Sick again.  It's what I get for not sleeping much.
I stay up and work on my writing.  It's masturbatory.

You wanted someone.  Friends are rare and precious.
Work for the future.  Time stops for no one.

The wind speaks to me through the trees.
The Sun warms my legs.  I'm not alone.

In another hemisphere, the clouds swirl.
The dogs bark at cars and strangers.
A girl holds her baby and coos a little song.
Roosters outside, the faint smell of smoke.
The cats scarf all the left-over vegetables.

I have a heart again.
I better be careful this time and not lose it.

I'm not too sure it matters
Anymore

After having tread so rough
Before.
